Peace District Regional Agricultural Plan - Research and Community Dialogue

The Peace River Regional District includes about 1.4 million hectares of land within the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR), comprising about 27% of ALR lands in BC. There are nearly 825,000 hectares of land farmed in the region, accounting for 31% of land farmed in BC, mostly in the ALR but also outside the ALR. The BC Peace Region is a crucial agricultural production area of BC.

To provide further context for development of the Regional Agricultural Plan, an extensive Background Report  has been prepared. The information contained is an overview of the state of agriculture in our region and provides some fascinating facts about the scale and quantity of agriculture in the region

A Regional Agricultural Plan is intended to provide guidance to the Peace River Regional District for encouraging and supporting agricultural activity in the region. Twelve (12) consultation  meetings were held to invite community input regarding some suggestions and options that might be included in the Regional Agricultural Plan.

This work was undertaken in consultation with Don Cameron Associates.
